We drank, we ate, we partied...
In this publication we are not usually in the habit of writing about a particular club, but this time we have decided to make an exception. This is because we have in the last few weeks heard so much about a totally new bright spot in Budapest’s nightlife that we just had to see if for ourselves. So we tested it. We are talking about the Palace Lounge, which migrated across the Danube from Buda to Pest under an updated name. The new location is right at the Basilica, in the city centre. That’s not what caught our attention, though. The “Lounge” part of the name in fact includes a restaurant separately from the club, but which still forms a part of it. This is what we wanted to have a closer look at, because you must admit, it’s more than exceptional that a Lounge restaurant is operating in the upper level of a strip club - at first glance, you’d think that the two things couldn’t go together.
Our experiences proved the exact opposite.
We paid a visit on the Palace on Saturday night, giving them a phone call in advance, thought of course we didn’t tell them the real reason for our visit. We just registered our visit with them. When we arrived, we were greeted very nicely at the door, and they took our coats as you would expect, and escorted us to our table. They asked how we learned about the place, and we told them that the Internet is full of news about them, and that’s how le learned about them. They informed us that because we hadn’t come by taxi, we were entitled to a free entrance to the club section if that was how we wished to continue our evening. We were glad to hear it, and we also immersed ourselves in the menu and wine list, which a very pretty waitress brought and placed on the table.
Anyway, the restaurant has an extraordinarily good atmosphere, with the bar opposite and characterized by tastefully laid tables and soft lighting. The staff do their jobs, not too much, not too little...they come when they are needed. The menu features both Hungarian and international cuisine, the prices, considering that we could eat in the most fashionable and hottest, could be considered truly reasonable. There’s only one thing to be said about the food: impeccable! I can seriously say I never expected that right in the restaurant of a night club would I eat and drink such delicious fare. It was simply astonishing, the level of the cooking. When they write that the menu was assembled my master chefs, that’s one thing. However, the preparation also takes place on a master level. I’ve been in chic, more expensive places, where the food didn’t tease the palate half as much. It was fantastic. We spent about an hour in the Lounge section. Aside from us, there must have been about two or three tables. It wasn’t full, but they only just opened, so it is understandable. After we had dinner, we paid the bill and went down to see what was happening downstairs in the club. There are trwo visitor rooms. The lady who escorted us down said that one of them starts up when the main room fills up and there’s no more room for newcomers. Aside from this, they use it for receptions of large groups, in fact it can be completely separated, with separate music, a separate stage, and so on. There’s a great atmosphere, and both rooms are free, but we liked the VIP rooms the best. For this only one suitable word comes to mind: Magnificent! The VIP rooms here really do radiate luxury. They are large and comfortable, with soft, luxury textiles and expensive wallpaper on the walls, so it really was the best in every respect! The Palace was really gone all out, and they didn’t scrimp or save when the y did the place up. It shows that they were thinking long term when they created the place, because this isn’t the kind of investment that would see returns in less just six months, or so, that’s for sure! We also visted the old Palace at that time, too. There’s no comparison, it’s so much more exclusive and nicer. The girls have all been changed, maybe there were one or two from the old place, no more. About every one was highest category, but I can tell you honestly, for such a beautiful club right in the heart of the city, you wouldn’t expect anything else.
Our evening was a huge success, the dinner was fabulous, the hospitality of the Palace was unique, we ate, we drank, we partied! Thanks for the wonderful experience, we will certainly return, maybe even this year!
